National Youth Track & Field Championships, Ste-Therese, QC - August 5-7, 2016
The Youth National Championships this past weekend marked the end of the Club´s outdoor competition season. Five athletes traveled to St.Therese, QC representing STL, for some it was their first experience at the National level.
Kenzie Smyth competed in the Midget Girls 80m Hurdles, 200m Hurdles and High Jump. She finished off her season with a new PB in High Jump of 1.50m.
Julia Vanhoucke also PB´d in the Youth Girls 400m Hurdles running 1:02.80, placing her 5th overall ... Another great ending to a long outdoor season.
Tanner Smyth, just missed the Youth Boys 110m Hurdles finals racing against some strong and unpredictable winds. Tanner also competed in the 400m Hurdles along with teammate Liam Clark. Both boys had solid races producing new PB´s to finish off their seasons.
Hayden Bell was the 5th STL athlete, competing in the 110m Hurdles, Long Jump, and High Jump. In High Jump, he matched his PB of 1.80m, very narrowly missing his attempt at 1.85m during competition
Congratulations to all five for their hard work and efforts, that earned them a spot at that National level. I am sure the experience they gained from this will help with their future goals and achievements.
Now we all get to enjoy some well deserved time off as we rest up and watch our Canadian athletes in Rio.
